The Bridge Between Eras

I aspire to be the bridge between the generations that came before us and the ones that will follow. Our elders carry a library of history within them, but if we don't document it now, those stories become silences. I’m doing this so that the 'we don't know' stops with my generation.

For so long, our history was oral or confined to small villages like Bahadarpur and Sankheda. In a world that is changing so fast, documenting our specific lineage—our trade, our migrations, and our struggles—is a way of honoring the resilience it took for us to be here today. It’s about giving a face and a voice to the ancestors who didn't have the chance to write their own stories.

I’ve realized that knowing where we come from changes how we see ourselves. Our family has a unique narrative of survival and adaptation. Finding those missing pieces isn't about prying; it’s about deep respect. I want to ensure that our family's contribution to history isn't forgotten just because it wasn't written in an official ledger.

I want my daughter to grow up with a sense of rootedness. I want her to know that her identity is backed by centuries of history, even if that history takes a little extra work to uncover. By documenting this now, I am giving her a gift of identity that she can carry forever.

Our family’s story isn't just ours—it’s the story of an entire community. By documenting our specific journey, I’m helping to preserve a way of life that millions of people lived but very few wrote down. If I can capture our piece of the puzzle, I’m helping to save a chapter of history that belongs to all of us.
